Firstly: on 11th June, it will be exactly one year since I purchased my D2X, 17-55DX lens and SB-800 flash. Now I'll be the first to say that buying an expensive, pro-level camera doesn't make anyone a better photographer (least of all me) but it did free me from some of the frustrations that I had when working with the Sony F828.
Since that date, I've taken in excess of 10,000 shots with it, and now have a second D2X body that is getting put to the same rigorous use. To put this in perspective: I had taken some 2,500 shots with my F828 in the nine months I used it.
In this last year, I've started doing press and PR work and found a niche that really satisfies me: concert photography. I've shot - and continue to shoot - music talent that some people can barely get tickets to see and, each time I do so, I feel that I'm learning something new. I've grown to rely less and less on Photoshop for post-processing trickery and strive to get things as close to perfect at the time of shooting as is humanly (and technologically) possible. Here's two of my recent shots that have zero editing or retouching applied - just borders and info added in PS.

To think: I shoot stuff like this and get paid? I very much doubt I could ever go back to having a boss / supervisor or other stuff like that!
Secondly, my DA subscription has expired and I don't really feel at all compelled to renew it. The whole hoo-ha over the onerous T&C's for submissions and the other community uphevals have made me think twice about posting any of my work on this website and, as you'll notice, I pulled all my deviations and replaced them with my fine treatise stating exactly what I thought about the submission agreement. All the promises of revisions and making in more user friendly have never come to pass and, without transparency and accountability in plain English, I ain't gonna be posting work here as Deviations.
